What is FTTC broadband?

FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) broadband is built with fibre optic cables from the local telephone exchange to the green street-side cabinets, from where the connection to your business premises uses a traditional copper line.

Location to the green cabinet is paramount to achieving the best available speeds.

What is the difference between FTTC and ADSL2+ broadband?

The first difference is the technology. As highlighted above, there is fibre optic cabling in place from the exchange to the green cabinet whereas with ADSL2+ it is a copper line from the exchange to the premises.

Download speeds can be as high as 80Mb/s with upload speeds at around 20Mb/s depending on your location. Give us a call today to find out which service is available in your location.

FTTC can help your business with faster speeds

If you are yet to upgrade from an ADSL2+ service and FTTC is available in your area, then we strongly recommend that change. Depending on the number of employees in the business, FTTC has the potential to speed up day to day business activities.

Email will be received faster, documents can be uploaded to cloud storage solutions very quickly and access to web platforms such as Xero and Quickbooks will be vastly improved.

Try our broadband speed checker

Not everyone is aware of the type of broadband service they have in their business, our broadband speed test checker will provide an indication based on the speeds returned during the test.

Frequently asked questions

All FTTC services are provided on a 12-month contract basis. Keytech Networks manage the entire process, from ordering or transferring the phone lines, ordering the new broadband circuit through to the ongoing monthly billing and support.

Our services are competitively priced, offering value for money and made simple with our easy to understand billing.

For all FTTC installations, a Draytek router is our recommended solution for business customers. The specific model will be determined after an initial discussion and this would be charged on the first monthly invoice.

Assuming we are installing a new line, that process takes 10 business days on average and we can request for the broadband to go live on the same day.

The new router will be configured ready for use and be dispatched in readiness for the service going live on the scheduled date.

Sourcing your phone line rental and broadband service from the same provider will help. Our support team are on hand between 9am-5.30pm to address any issues that you may be experiencing. Please dial 01403 620600, followed by Option 1 to reach our Technical Support team.

A process will then be followed to determine the nature of the fault, a ticket number will be provided which will remain open until the fault is resolved.

There are SLA’s (Service Level Agreements) in place with the network providers and these will be followed to ensure a swift resolution to normal service.
