Data Cabling Services

What type of cabling services do Keytech Networks provide?

Through our trusted cabling partners we provide a variety of solutions for small, medium and large organisation across Sussex, Surrey and London. From consultation to planning, design, installation, and maintenance-we are there every step of the way.

Our structured data cabling solutions include CAT5e and CAT6, CCTV, Multimedia and voice cabling. Every installation is different and to ensure that works are priced correctly, we conduct a full site survey to ensure the quotation we provide meets the business requirements to cater for the increasing demands on the transfer of voice and data around your network environment.

Benefits of structured data cabling to your business

Within any network environment, structured data cabling forms a critical part of the internal network infrastructure-without it the telephone system and computers may not function as intended.

Structured cabling provides a more suitable and flexible option for network and telecoms system management. For example, many VoIP systems will benefit from a Power over Ethernet (PoE) setup therefore needing a solid network environment in which to operate.

We can work with your IT team to ensure a seamless connection to the existing network infrastructure.

What type of warranty is provided?

All labour is backed up by a 12-month warranty with the products themselves backed up by the manufacturers extensive warranty which varies in length depending on the particular product. Further warranty information can be provided at the site survey.

Will there be any network downtime when works are carried out?

With the experience gained over the years, it means that the engineers can carry out the installation or upgrade of the internal or external, structured data cabling, with minimal or no downtime to the existing network infrastructure.

The site survey will cover all eventualities, and this is one of the first things that will be discussed at the time of our meeting. Business continuity is paramount during any works carried out.

What is difference between CAT5e and CAT6 cabling?

Category 5e cabling (CAT5e) is the accepted minimum standard for connecting computers and telephones and replaced the original standard CAT5 several years ago.

As a futureproof option, Category 6 Cabling (CAT6) provides improved data transfer performance in a direct comparison to CAT5e and will be the future standard of all network cabling.

There are two main physical differences between CAT5 and CAT6 cables-the number of twists per cm in the wire as well as sheath thickness.

Cable twisting length is not standardised but typically there are 1.5-2 twists per cm in CAT5e and 2+ twists per cm in CAT6. Within a single cable, each coloured pair will also have different twist lengths based on prime numbers so that no two twists ever align. The amount of twists per pair is usually unique for each cable manufacturer.

Many CAT6 cables also include a nylon spline which helps eliminate crosstalk. Although the spline is not required in CAT5 cable, some manufacturers include it anyway. In CAT6 cable, the spline is not required either if the cable tests according to the standard.
